"Gas City I-69 Speedway is where I rekindled my racing photography hobby in 1998. After 20 years away from a race track infield, the owner, promoter, and staff welcomed me in as if I was a long lost friend. Local racer hero Tony Elliot saw my handheld auto focus digital zoom Kodak and asked " Can you really catch racecar action shots with that little camera?" I replied "if you provide the action I am sure as hell gonna try". That was a special conversation memory for me and sums up what Gas City Speedway is all about for me 26 years later. Hard working, dedicated, refuse to lose track personnel, concession staff, media, videographers, and race officials all getting the most out of the facility, track surface, and each other for the the entertainment of fans like me who travel 320 miles roundtrip most Friday nights just to be with my racing family. Most of that Gas City Speedway family is still connected on social media although it simply is not the same from a distance. I pledge my support to those who hope to revive Gas City Speedway as a racing jewel of northeastern Indiana. God willing, I will once again be "shooting" inside of turn two very soon." - Will Shunk, Photographer; Sylvania, OH
